Anita Ragusa
Anita Ragusa is both a working artist and an art world professional. Ragusa was born in Sarajevo, then part of Yugoslavia, and moved to New York to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. John’s University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Cooper Union School of Art.
Ragusa runs a private commission-based painting practice from her NYC studio, and she has had solo exhibitions at A.I.R. Gallery and group exhibitions, including Queens International 2006, The Queens Museum of Art, New York (2006) and Pretty Young Thing: PYT, New York (2010). She also participated in the first-ever Project Diversity Queens 2007. Her work can currently be seen at the Saint Kate Arts Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as part of its permanent collection.
Ragusa’s work within the art world has centered around human resources work and international expansion for major galleries. Ragusa is the current Director of People at Bonhams auction house, and over the past 15 years has worked at Pace Gallery, David Zwirner, and Gagosian Gallery.
Ragusa’s work focuses on exotic patterns, figures, and decadent images full of fantasy interiors and textiles. Her work spans many mediums, including paintings, watercolor, and photography.
