Elizabeth Williams

Elizabeth Williams attended Washington University School of Art and graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1979. She began her illustration career in Los Angeles in 1980 drawing trials of the Hillside Stranglers and the anti-trust trial of Al Davis (owner of the Los Angeles Raiders football team) v. the National Football League.
Williams’ court artwork has been published on the front page of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Post, New York Newsday and The National Law Journal. She drew an award-winning advertising campaign for Winthrop Pharmaceuticals, has illustrated textbooks for Oxford University Press, drawn sports illustrations for ABC Sports, the Los Angeles Raiders and the Ammirati advertising agency. She is the co-author of the award-winning book on courtroom art, The Illustrated Courtroom: 50 Years of Court Art. The book won two Gold Medals and two Silver Medals from the IPPY eLit awards, is a Times Literary Supplement 2014 Book of the Year, a Kirkus Reviews Best Book of 2014 and a Global eBook Gold Medal winner. The Library of Congress acquired all of her artwork from The Illustrated Courtroom for their collection.
Her work has been exhibited in juried shows at the Society of Illustrators in N.Y. and L.A, The William J Brennan Courthouse in New Jersey, The New York City Police Museum, the Newport Beach Library in CA, the World Trade Gallery in New York, The National Arts Club and the Southern District of New York Manhattan Federal Courthouse. New York’s John Jay School of Criminal Justice acquired her entire folio of work from the "Sean Bell Trial" for their collection.
She sits on the New York City Police Museum board. She conceived and helped organize and curate several art related shows: Artist as Witness: 9/11 Responders which traveled to Washington DC, 9/11 A Uniformed Response: Photos from the Associated Press, and Police in the Community. She organized and curated the Art and Law: Famous New Jersey Trials in Pictures exhibit, which was displayed at the Jersey City Brennan Courthouse.
Her client list includes: The Associated Press, CNN, CNBC News, ABC News, Bloomberg News, NBC News, CBS News, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, American Lawyer and National Law Journal. She has been featured and interviewed in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York Metro, NPR, The Daily Beast, and The Huffington Post.
