Marc Salz—born in New York, but based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for over thirty years—is a renowned abstract painter. Salz is known nationally and internationally for his portfolio of experimental artwork, featuring representations of the earth, natural elements, and geometric designs. His representations confront viewers with both seriousness and humor in a gentle subversion of the modernist tradition.
Salz comes from a family thoroughly engaged with varied aspects of the art world. His father, Sam Salz, was a famed art dealer with a career spanning from Cologne to New York City, while his mother, Marina Franca, was a dancer in Les Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo. His brother, Andre Salz, is also a painter. Marc Salz’s work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Old City Jewish Art Center, the More Gallery, and the Dolan Maxwell Gallery, among others.
