Mikhail Magaril

Mikhail Magaril is a New York City-based painter and book illustrator who originally hails from Leningrad. Magaril holds a degree from the Moscow Printing Institute, and he is renowned for his works worldwide. After immigrating to the United States, Magaril began an apprenticeship at the Center for Book Arts in New York. He remained at the Center for seven years, before founding Summer Garden Editions in 1998.
Magaril’s works are featured in collections including the French National Library, the British Museum, Haas Arts Special Collection at the Yale University sand the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Throughout his illustrious career, Mikhail has also won two Carl Hertzog Awards for Excellence in Book Design.
