Whitney Lynn mines artifacts from art history and popular culture to create works that reflect on cultural archetypes and the role of images in constructing myth, illusion, and desire. Her work has been exhibited internationally, at venues including Centro Bahía, Havana, Cuba; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the de Young Museum, in San Francisco; Exit Art, New York; and The Neon Museum, Las Vegas. She has created site-responsive public art for the San Diego International Airport and the City of Reno, Nevada., She and is currently completing a large-scale commission for the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture in partnership with Seattle Public Utilities. She has held faculty appointments at Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and San Francisco Art Institute, and is currently an Assistant Professor in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts at the University of Washington.
