[DUTCH COLONIALISM] [HUMOR] Zulukafferhøvdingen Peter Hansens, Early Comic Illustrated: Bizarre Illustrated Story Of Algerian Insurrection, Race Swapping & Murder
By Anonymous
Dark humor told in verse and imagery of a young man's fall from an idyllic European life to a series of misfortunes, including fighting Muslims in Northern Africa, being captured by the enemy, rescued by Zulus, forcibly having his skin darkened with a staining substance, then returning to Europe as a side-show attraction, where a romantic entanglement winds up with our hero tearing his rival to pieces. Rare in every way.
