A Tale of Long-distance Love 1930s Scrapbook - Original Drawings & Love Letters From A Young Man to His Sweetheart 1930s COURTSHIP SCRAPBOOK -- Handmade by ARTHUR 'Artie' WHITE of Kitchener, British Columbia. ORIGINAL, DETAILED DRAWINGS IN PENCIL, LOVE LETTERS & POEMS sent via 'snail mail'-- Besotted Artie White (of Kitchener, British Columbia, pop. 200) handmade an album of 40 pp. with original pencil drawings & verses for his long-distance pursuit of love for Miss Irma Higgins (of Kearney, Nebraska, pop. 1,500). Artie doesn't say how they met-- thru friends or by a radio/newspaper pen-pal promotion? He sends letters and pictures via 'snail mail' to Irma in a long-distance romantic courtship. Artie falls hopelessly in love-- he draws smitten lovers who resemble movie actors. Arty and Irma meet face to face in 1935. Artie makes a 'feelings' questionnaire-- and puts question marks besides Irma's feelings about him. Do they marry? -- Artie never says, but his album ends with drawings-- a smiling young couple in a convertible car, a man and woman happily embrace beneath a banner of 'I love you!'. 1930s SCRAPBOOK of COURTSHIP & ROMANCE-- 10"x12", completely full. 40 pp. of Artie's heartfelt, often humorous drawings & poetic declarations of love and devotion for his sweetheart, Irma-- love & dating in former times. In fine condition-- the original cover with hinged wooden boards has a lovely cover, painted in 4 colors, of a raised scene of fox hunting on horseback. Domestic s&h $15.
