Description

First translation of the US Constitution in French?
M. De La Croix, Constitutions des principaux etats de l'Europe et des Etats-Unis de l'Amerique, a Paris chez Buisson 1791. 2 octavo volumes, 439-408 pages, first edition complete in two volumes as stated on the last text page, from the printing press of widow D’Houry. 
Fine contemporary full leather, gilded spine, marbled paper linings, corner’s abraded.

This is the true first edition published in two volumes, no copies found in libraries. The Bibliothèque nationale hold the second edition published the same year in three volumes and a third edition published between 1793 and 1801 in six volumes.
