Edmund E Niemann (1909-2005) was a New York City-born artist who began his artistic journey as an apprentice to his father, also a painter. After studying painting and drawing at the Arts Students League, he served in the US Navy during World War II, creating posters and designing materials for the war effort. With the rise of Abstract Expressionism his paintings evolved dramatically, creating a fascinating and dynamic trajectory of his oeuvre. His work has been showcased in various galleries and museums including the Ward Eggleston Gallery and the Storm King Art Center, and he received numerous awards and features in prominent arts magazines. Niemman continued to be a creative and skilled artist right up to his passing at the age of 95.
