About this Lot
Description

[ARKHAM HOUSE, publishers]. – Evangeline WALTON (1907-1996). Witch House. Sauk City, WI: Arkham House, 1945.  Octavo (7 ¼ x 4 5/8 inches; 183 x 117mm). Pp. [i-vi; 1-]6-200[-202]. Original black cloth, spine lettered in bright green, dust-jacket designed by Ronald Clyne (generally excellent, but with dust jacket clipped, and stamped on top edge of flap: "Price in Canada $3.25".

First volume in the Arkham House Novels of Fantasy and Terror series. Limited to 3000 [reportedly, actually 2949] copies. The book "was produced in wartime format of lighter weight paper and smaller margins, to assure a more compact book, in accordance with government regulations". Walton was awarded the World Fantasy Convention, World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 1989. Currey p148.
