Third edition in Latin of his "most often read and republished mathematical work" (Whiteside) – a nice copy of the lectures that Newton delivered in his capacity as Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge. The first edition was published in 1707, the second in 1722. The present edition was edited by s'Gravesande. Related works by Halley, Colson, de Moivre, MacLaurin and Campbell are added for the first time. They had all been previously published in the Philosophical Transactions and are here translated into Latin by J.P. Bernard. Babson 204; Wallis 279 (‘includes much new material’).
