Large Gilt and Lacquer Jewelry Box, Late 19th to early 20th century. Rectangular box of an intricately painted motif of leaves and flowers, with birds and insects. Very confidently painted in an overall layout that resemble the less refined Burmese shwe zawa gold leaf motifs seen on the Sadaik manuscripts boxes. The lid features a realistic rendering of the three Greek muses. The interior has three removable trays with custom designed padded silk compartments. The feet and handles are cast brass, working lock with key. The trays, feet and handles may have been a later addition. Dimensions:
