Wonderfully carved in figure with the gentle curves, the pleated garments spreading out in a fishtail fashion, and the abyhaya and varada mudra hand gestures that are all typical of the Northern Wei style. The figure is backed by an impressive flame-shaped mandorla. It has been given elements of paint and gilt to create an enviable patina on the surface. The figure is posted into a stone lotus base.
