A Vision Shared: A Classic Portrait of America and Its People, 1935-1943. Text by Hank O'Neal; foreword by Bernarda Shahn. (New York: St. Martin's Press, c1976). 309 p.; chiefly illustrations, index.
Large-format, elegant presentation of the work of the photographers of the Farm Security Administration, including John Collier, Jack Delano, Walker Evans, Theo Jung, Dorothea Lange, Russell Lee, Carl Mydans, Arthur Rothstein, Ben Shahn, Marion Post Wolcott, & John Vachon. Perhaps the best survey of the FSA, the photographs in this volume were chosen by the photographers (or, in the case of two photographers deceased at that time, by their spouses). Not only is this copy signed by O'Neal on the table of contents page, but it is signed by five of the FSA photographers on the half-title page: Wolcott, Delano, Lee, Rothstein, and Mydans. Light soiling and wear to the unclipped dust jacket; two minor closed tears in edge of dust jacket, one inside front flag and the other to bottom corner of the back panel. 13" x 12-1/4". Cloth, dust jacket. Outside of wear to dust jacket, Very Good.
