Two porcelain shell form dishes decorated in the interior with underglaze-blue, gilt, and colored enamels with the "Three Friends" motif of pine, bamboo and plum. Finely detailed pheasants in iron red are incorporated. This is reminiscent of the finest arita ware from the 18th century known as Nabeshima that heavily borrowed from Chinese designs. The center of the foot bears a Fuki Choshun written in Kanji characters (????) meaning Wealth, Nobility, Longevity and Youth. This mark was mainly used during the Meiji Period, from 1868-1912
Dimensions: 12" diameter each
