Morley Melden spent his life supporting the arts and printmaking in particular. In 1991 he was the founding President of The Print Club of New York which was established with a group of 150 passionate print collectors to share the joy of printmaking and collecting, while supporting contemporary printmakers. The club provides numerous educational opportunities, including lectures by artists, curators and conservators, panel discussions, as well as visits to galleries, auction houses, print shops and artists’ studios. Since 1994 the club’s annual Artist Showcase has provided emerging artists with the opportunity to display and showcase their work to Club members, helping to herald them into the artworld making new sales and contacts. An alumni of Princeton University, Morley and his wife established the Morley and Jean Melden Education Fund for Prints and Drawings which aided the next generation of artists and makers by supporting a plethora of arts programming from the Princeton University Museum.
