Capsule's inaugural luxe auction
On June 29th, Capsule presents The Luxury Sale, which includes items such as fine jewelry, silver, fashion items, and fashion illustrations. The sale is Capsule’s inaugural luxury auction and will feature pieces from renowned brands Hermès, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and Steuben.
Capsule continues to offer items from the collection of the Estate of Geoffrey Beene, including fashion illustrations by Joe Eula, Issey Miyake, and Jesper Nyeboe, as well as a rare selection of vintage bespoke mannequins, of which proceeds will benefit the Geoffrey Beene Cancer Research Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.
An exciting feature to the sale is the coveted Hermès Birkin 35 in black togo leather with gold hardware. The Hermès Birkin, notorious for being elusive in this particular color combination, is the epitome of classic luxury. Both timeless, elegant, and of the finest craftsmanship, this item is expected to be one of the top lots of the sale.
Adding some sparkle to the sale is this platinum set diamond ring, with a 1.2 carat center stone, flanked by a spectacular tiered arrangement of 26 smaller diamonds. The crescent shaped clusters halo the center brilliant-cut diamond. The piece is pure vintage luxury.
Tiffany & Co. is represented in several lots of the sale, perhaps most spectacularly by this 14K gold multi-layer necklace. The piece is beautifully refined, with clean lines and understated glamor.
From the collection of the Estate of Geoffrey Beene, Capsule continues to offer items with proceeds benefiting the Geoffrey Beene Cancer Research Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Of the bespoke vintage mannequins, this atelier mannequin is of particular interest. Its hand-drawn markings add an artistic flair to the one-of-a-kind item. This mannequin was used personally by Geoffrey Beene in his atelier to mark and design dresses, making it an incredibly special fashion history item.
Also from the Geoffrey Beene collection, a selection of original fashion drawings will be offered in the sale, including this lot of 11 original Joe Eula ink and watercolor illustrations. Over the course of his sixty-year career, Eula worked closely with many designers including Valentino, Givenchy, Halston and Yves Saint Laurent. He sketched and photographed major European collections for various publications including French and Italian Harper's Bazaar and designed iconic advertisements for Tiffany, Josie Natori, and Geoffrey Beene. Describing Joe Eula, Geoffrey Beene said "His work is full of energy even when the figures are standing still. They aren't as simple as they look. They are urban people. They're like Joe, both restless and sophisticated."
