Shipping Methods

Deciding the best delivery options for you.

Shipping is definitely not a one-size-fits-all process. Deciding the best method for you depends on what you've won, where it's going, and when it needs to be there by. Below we have included a guide to the four basic types of delivery that most customers are looking for when choosing a shipping service.

🖼️ Art Crating

Best for valuable and fragile pieces that are traveling beyond the New York City Area. Shippers who offer this service will pick up from our location, expertly pack the items, build a custom crate if needed, and deliver to you either via shipping company or ground transport depending on your needs. Many offer “white glove” handling services and can even bring the item into your home, ready for installation.

🚛 Ground Transport

Best for furniture items and may be cost-effective for art and antiques if time is not of the essence.

Shippers who provide this service will pick up from our location, "Blanket Wrap" or lightly pack items, and transport them door-to-door via truck. Shippers in this category often have regular cross-country routes and are a great option if there is flexibility with timing.

📦 Pack and Ship

Best for small to medium items. Shippers who offer this service will pick up from our location and pack the items appropriately to ship via UPS, USPS, FedEx, or DHL. Please let them know if you have a preference for a carrier.

🚙 Local Delivery

This is a great way to get your auction item fast and at a specific time. Shippers who offer this service can deliver items within New York City and the surrounding area at a reasonable cost. Size and distance restrictions will usually apply.

Third Party Shippers

Our recommendations

When contacting a third-party shipper for a quote, please be sure to include the following:

  • Your shipping address
  • The auction item lot number
  • The date of the auction.

Customers have found that shipping vendors respond quicker when provided a direct link to the lot.

Always be sure to request transit insurance for the value of your invoice.

This list of suggested shipping service providers is provided as a courtesy to Capsule customers, All purchasers are permitted to hire any shipper of their choice. Each company listed above operates independently of Capsule and Capsule assumes no responsibility for any acts and/or omissions executed by them.

Post-Sale Storage

You don't have to take them home, but they can't stay here

Customers are expected to pick up all their auction purchases within two weeks of the auction sale date.

For customers who haven't shipped their auction purchases (or communicated scheduled pick-up dates to our office) within 14 days of the auction, Capsule reserves the right to charge a minimum storage fee of $10 per lot / per day or to deliver the property to a public warehouse for storage at the purchaser’s expense.

In such cases, the property will be released only after payment in full of all transportation, storage, handling, insurance, and any other costs incurred, together with payment of all other amounts due to Capsule.
